What’s the deal with adhesives, and what do I need to look out for?

The Flip 3 had a case issue in the USA thanks to the placement of the UWB “window.” Because it was placed so near the hinge, the adhesive strip cases used to firmly attach cases to the phone would be in the same spot and could pull the window out. Models outside of North America didn’t have this extra antenna. Thankfully, the Flip 4 has placed this piece of hardware elsewhere, and casemakers have learned some lessons too.

Flip 4 cases have placed the adhesive away from that 5G window, and the bond itself is better. In our experience, the adhesive can withstand a few removals from the device, and most cases come with spares in the box, just in case. When shopping for a case, remember that the more often you remove the case, the quicker those adhesive strips will fail, so if you enjoy changing cases a lot, make sure the ones you choose come with spare adhesive.
